For its 14th edition, the festival is moving.

On 1 May, the former Union football pitches in Lessines, made available by Carrières Unies de Porphyre (CUP), will play host to Roots & Roses.

The new site, at the end of Chemin du Tordoir, is accessible via Rue René Magritte (and just a stone’s throw from the house where Belgium’s most famous surrealist artist was born).

It is strategically located near Lessines train station and not far from the commercial and historic town centre (with the Hôpital-Musée Notre Dame à La Rose, one of the oldest hospitals in Europe and one of Wallonia’s major heritage sites).

Since its creation in 2010, the event has been held on the athletics field. Now, the athletics ground will be getting some well-deserved work done.

The move had been planned for a number of years: now it’s coming to fruition in 2025.

The new site will be signposted from the E429 motorway exits (exits 30 Lessines/Ath) and from the main routes into the city (N57, N42, N56). The car park reserved for festival-goers is very close by.
